Pregnant: what the menu doesn’t say.
A raw-milk comté, a mousse made with raw eggs, the wine in a sauce: Lanatag recognises them in the dish name.
Show the sheet to the server.
Lanatag reads the menu, not the kitchen. Four sentences are ready, in the language of the country, starting with “I am pregnant.”
At the supermarket, the label too.
A barcode, or a photo of the ingredient list: every product is sorted with the same profile.

What can I eat at a restaurant while pregnant?
Well-cooked dishes: meat with no pink or blood, fish cooked through, firm eggs. The NHS advises avoiding raw or undercooked meat, raw fish and unpasteurised milk, and the CDC refrigerated smoked fish. For a pregnant woman, Lanatag reads the photographed menu, or the label and barcode of a product, and sorts each dish or product, with its reason.
Can pregnant women eat sushi?
Not with raw fish. The NHS advises avoiding sushi made with raw fish, even if it has been frozen first, and the CDC advises against refrigerated smoked fish, because of listeria. Lanatag skips an assorted sushi plate or a tuna tataki for the raw fish.
Can pregnant women eat unpasteurised cheese?
Generally not. The NHS says cheese made with unpasteurised milk must be cooked until steaming hot, apart from hard cheeses such as cheddar, gruyère and parmesan; the CDC lists any cheese made with raw milk among the foods to avoid. Lanatag is stricter: it skips all unpasteurised cheese, and soft cheeses even if pasteurised, like Australia’s authority (FSANZ), unless cooked.
Can pregnant women eat food cooked with wine?
Better to avoid it: the alcohol doesn’t all cook off. A US Department of Agriculture table (USDA, 2007) shows a simmered or baked dish still keeps about 5% of its alcohol after two and a half hours, and the NHS says it is safest to avoid alcohol. Lanatag recognises the alcohol of a coq au vin or a beef bourguignon in the dish name.
What fish can I eat when pregnant?
Fish cooked through. The NHS says no more than 2 portions of oily fish a week, and no more than 4 cans or 2 tuna steaks a week; raw or smoked fish is to be avoided. Swordfish, shark and marlin, high in mercury, are to be avoided too. Lanatag flags them on the menu.
Immune to toxoplasmosis: can I eat anything?
No. Toxoplasmosis and listeriosis are two different infections: immunity to one does not protect against the other, so unpasteurised cheese and raw or smoked fish stay on the avoid list (NHS, CDC). Your doctor or midwife can tell you whether you are immune. Lanatag has no setting for this: it keeps the same markers for everyone.
How much coffee can I have when pregnant?
No more than 200 mg of caffeine a day (EFSA, NHS). The NHS counts 100 mg in a cup of instant coffee and 75 mg in a cup of tea: two cups of instant coffee are enough to reach it.
Does Lanatag replace my midwife?
No. It reads the menu, not the kitchen. Its markers are those of the health authorities. Your doctor or midwife stays your reference.
